The Palmer Civil Division of the Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting for a Court Case Manager 2 (salary range 12) to perform administrative and paralegal duties with a focus on protective orders, assist the department supervisor in day-to-day operations and training, and provide backup support to other positions.


This Position

You will be responsible for reviewing and screening all civil pleadings that require court or clerk's determination to ensure technical compliance with statutes and court rules. This includes monitoring ("tickling") filings until they are procedurally complete and ready for judicial action, processing and routing ripe matters with appropriate notations, and distributing signed judgments and orders to all relevant parties. The technician ensures all case files are accurate, organized, and complete.

Additionally, the role entails responding to inquiries from attorneys, court staff, agencies, and the public—both in person and through written or telephone communication—to provide guidance on policies, procedures, and rules. The technician also serves as the primary resource for complex procedural questions and works closely with judges and their staff. Duties include entering case information into the case management system, processing docket entries, tracking motions, and managing protective order reports, while ensuring data accuracy and maintaining the integrity of case records throughout the process.


The Work Schedule

Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.


OR

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.


OR


A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
