Definition
This is a first-level management, professional, full-time, position with the City's Municipal Court. An individual in this position will assist the Director of Courts Services and the Deputy Court Administrator in the daily administrative and operational elements of the Municipal Court. This position will oversee all court staff when the Director and Deputy Court Administrator are unavailable. The position requires a specialized knowledge of court operations, policies, and procedures, and state statutes/laws.
Examples of Work

Supervise and direct personnel daily.

Prepare and complete Performance Plans and Evaluations.

Hiring and disciplinary decisions with Director and Deputy Court Administrator.

Train all new employees.
-
Perform all duties of Deputy Court Clerk 1 and II, Court Services Specialist and Warrant Specialist as needed.

Reconcile monies received for each clerk and prepare department daily deposit when needed.

Monitor and maintain internet payments.
-
Oversee the daily operations of the department in the absence of the Director of Courts Services and Deputy Court Administrator

Oversee citation entry, audit, and quality control.
-
Oversee processing of jail and bonding paperwork.
-
Assist with developing operational policies and procedures.
-
Assist with monthly and quarterly state reporting.
-
Oversee the jury and juror responsibilities.
-
Oversee plead cases for compliance.
-
Defaulted case collections and resolutions management.
-
Must be able to understand state statutes/laws and can explain applicable legal options to defendants.

Provide defendants with applicable options to resolve criminal case(s);

Receive & process various legal motions from attorneys and defendants.

Receive, process, and post cash bonds, bail bonds, and attorney bonds in accordance with state law and the presiding judge’s standing orders.

Receive & process payments accurately and timely to defendant’s case(s).

Insurance validation in accordance with applicable state law and judicial orders.

Extensive data entry to include citations, affidavits, sworn complaints, incident reports, etc.;

Effectively and efficiently process cases while providing superior customer service.

Review appeal bonds for accuracy before receiving.

Event monitoring on all cases past due.

Submit various forms to the Texas Department of Public Safety;

Performs all other duties as assigned by the Deputy Court Administrator and the Director of Court Services.

Subject to 24-hour recall.
Education, Experience, or Certification
3 years of court related experience and 1 year of supervisory experience. Level II Court Clerk Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire and ability to obtain Level III within 3 years of hire.
