Creative Operations Assistant (Event + Content Coordinator)

About Us

Black Canvas is a fast-growing creative event company that hosts art-driven parties, mixers, showcases, pop-ups, and cultural events across Raleigh and Fayetteville. We connect local creatives, highlight emerging talent, and curate unforgettable experiences.

We’re expanding and looking for a creative, organized, and hands-on assistant to support event execution, content creation, and behind-the-scenes operations.

Role Overview

We need a multi-talented Creative Operations Assistant who can support both the creative and logistical side of event production.

This role is perfect for someone who is:

  • A natural creative
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable with social media and content
  • Energetic and hands-on at events
  • Passionate about art, music, and culture

This person will work directly with the founder of Black Canvas and help elevate everything from content to event execution.

Responsibilities

Content & Marketing Support

  • Capture BTS content at events and shoots
  • Assist with social media posting + organizing content
  • Help create simple graphics or flyers (optional but a plus)
  • Support weekly content planning
  • Help write captions, send emails, push event promotion

Event Operations

  • Assist with vendor check-in and artist coordination
  • Help with setup & breakdown at events
  • Manage the door, guest lists, check-in, or merch table
  • Support run-of-show execution
  • Troubleshoot last-minute event needs
  • Keep the environment organized during events

Creative & Administrative Assistance

  • Help brainstorm themes, aesthetics, and ideas for events
  • Assist with planning documents, checklists, and timelines
  • Communicate with artists, vendors, and team members
  • Maintain Google Drive, schedules, and task lists
  • Support creative direction for brand visuals + experiences

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in events, art, culture, or nightlife
  • Good communication skills
  • Social media awareness (IG, TikTok)
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized
  • Comfortable being hands-on in fast-paced environments
  • Reliable transportation
  • Available nights and weekends

Bonus Skills (not required):

  • Photography/videography
  • Graphic design
  • TikTok/Instagram editing
  • Experience with events or creative projects
  • Marketing or communications background

Compensation

This is a project-based position with:

  • Event-by-event stipend
  • Commission opportunities (ticket sales, vendors, sponsorship leads)
