Summary: The Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing direct treatment services to clients of the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility

Job Title: Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) (Pay Range $27-$35)

Location: Canton, NY 13617

Target Work Schedule: Full-Time

Target Duration/End Date: TBD

Description of Roles and Responsibilities:

· Services would primarily support our Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program and court-ordered substance use evaluations

· We are ideally looking for on-site service delivery within the facility

·Responsible for providing rehabilitation counseling and guidance services to individuals with substance use disorder

·Conduct individual and group counseling sessions

· Provide consultation and treatment for clients

· Assess the condition of the client's progress and status during treatment sessions

· Record progress notes of each treatment session, detailing dates, types of counseling provided and nature of counseling, length of session and client progress

· Review client treatment plans as a guide to treatment

· Plan with Supervision and any criminal justice referral source, the long-range goals and any ancillary referral sources for clients

· Provide emergency coverage and crisis intervention

· Conduct random drug tests on all clients

Mandatory/Minimum Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred. Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) Certification or Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T) so recognized and documented by the New York State Division of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse. If the candidate is a CASAC-T they will be required to obtain their CASAC credential within 3 years from their date of hire. Minimum of two years of treatment experience in addiction services area required

Summary: The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for providing direct Peer services to clients of the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility

Job Title: Peer Support Specialist (Pay Range $21-$25)

Description of Roles and Responsibilities:

· Services would primarily support our Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program and court-ordered substance use evaluations

· We are ideally looking for on-site service delivery within the facility

· Provides peer counseling and support by drawing on common experiences as a peer to validate clients’ experiences and provide guidance and encouragement to clients to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery

· Serves as a mentor to clients to promote hope and empowerment for themselves

· Advocates to the entire team from a mental health consumer perspective concerning clients’ experiences regarding symptoms of mental illness, clients’ attitudes and opinions of treatment and experiences of recovery

· Suggests appropriate changes in treatment plans to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions are provided in response to changes in clients’ mental status or behaviors that put clients at risk

Mandatory/Minimum Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred. Certified Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist (CBHPSS) designation. One years’ experience working in the mental health field preferred

Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

· Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments

· Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required

· Strong MS Windows, MS Outlook, and MS Office knowledge particularly in MS Excel and MS Word

· Excellent communication skills

· Works well with others

· Reliable and trustworthy

· Ability to multi-task and set priorities

· Ability to write non-technical correspondence, communicate in writing
