Credit Analyst

Description:

As a credit analyst at our bank, you will be a critical part of our lending process, ensuring the safety and soundness of our loan portfolio. This role is perfect for the detail-oriented analytical thinker who thrives on investigation and risk assessment. The analyst will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing credit files to determine the financial health of new and existing borrowers to directly inform our lending decisions and help determine the level of risk for the bank.

Requirements:

  • Complete file reviews on Ag, Commercial, and Consumer credit lines. Review files for proper documentation to ensure that all files meet policy standards.
  • Assist with special loan reports (Credit concentrations, watch list, loan type distribution, loan loss reports, active charge-offs, credit quality goals etc.).
  • Implement procedures to determine that conditions of approval are fulfilled and follow up procedures for completed file reviews and updates to core system.
  • Keeping up to date with issues that may affect credit decisions including compliance and evaluating market trends, industry data, and peer comparisons.
  • Partner with loan officers to structure credit relationships and communicate discrepancies or obtain additional financial information when necessary.
  • Monitor and assist loan officers with monitoring past due and overdrafts accounts, legal issues on collection activities including repossessions, foreclosures, and lending laws.
  • Evaluate financial position of the customer and determine the credit risks to the bank of commercial and/or ag clients through detailed financial statement analysis, financial spreads, industry assessment, collateral valuation, cash flow analysis, and the ability to repay annual debt service.
  • Develops and implements corrective action to improve the risk rating of loans within the commercial/ag loan portfolio.
  • Perform ledger administration responsibilities including maintenance. Administer company programs and approval logs.
  • Be alert for and refer any potential new businesses or opportunities to the bank’s affiliates.
  • As a part of the overall team of bank employees, this position may be requested to assist in the support of other bank activities.
  • Will have extensive contact with the public and conduct relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall image and marketing efforts of the bank.

Associate or bachelor’s Degree; or two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge of accounting and finance
