Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Credit & Compliance Manager to oversee both the credit risk and regulatory compliance functions. This role will lead a team of credit analysts while ensuring the company adheres to international trade, financial, and compliance regulations. The successful candidate will balance supporting commercial growth with protecting the company from credit losses, legal risks, and compliance breaches.
Key Responsibilities:
Credit Management
• Lead and mentor the credit team, ensuring robust credit analysis and effective risk mitigation.
• Establish, review, and enforce credit policies, procedures, and approval frameworks.
• Conduct counterparty risk assessments and approve credit limits in line with internal risk appetite.
• Monitor ongoing credit exposures, overdue payments, and counterparty performance.
• Maintain relationships with banks, insurers, and rating agencies to support credit decisions.
• Deliver timely risk reporting and recommendations to senior management and traders.
Compliance Management
• Oversee company-wide compliance programs, including AML, sanctions, and anti-bribery policies.
• Ensure all counterparties undergo thorough KYC and due diligence processes.
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting commodity trading and marine fuels markets.
• Liaise with external regulators, auditors, and legal advisors to ensure adherence to compliance obligations.
• Develop internal training programs to strengthen compliance awareness across the business.
• Conduct periodic compliance audits and risk assessments, recommending corrective actions where needed.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Act as a key business partner to trading, operations, legal, and finance teams.
• Support commercial teams by balancing business opportunities with prudent risk and compliance controls.
• Report regularly to senior management on credit exposures, compliance risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and responsible trading within the organization.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business (Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, ACAMS, ICA are an advantage).
• 5+ years of experience in credit risk and compliance, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of commodity or marine fuels trading, shipping, or energy markets.
• Proven track record in managing credit risk frameworks and compliance programs.
• Familiarity with trade finance, credit insurance, sanctions regimes, and AML regulations.
• Exceptional leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, with a commercial mindset.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international trading environment.
