Days/Hours: June 22 - July 2 Monday-Friday 8:30 am-12:30 pm

Not to exceed 36 hours

Job Summary:
The Hoquiam School District is seeking a dedicated and student-focused In-Person Credit Recovery Teacher to deliver instructional support to students enrolled in online credit recovery programs. This teacher will support learners in a classroom setting, helping students stay on track, meet academic goals, and complete graduation requirements. This role plays a key part in ensuring Engaged Learners, fostering Meaningful Relationships, offering Adaptive Pathways, and promoting Community Connections throughout the summer session.

Key Responsibilities:

Meaningful Relationships:

  • Be present and accessible in-person daily to support students.
  • Serve as a consistent and supportive adult for students navigating summer coursework.
  • Collaborate with the registrar and administrative team to address student needs.

Engaged Learners:

  • Monitor student engagement and provide direct instructional support as needed.
  • Offer clarification, tutoring, and academic coaching to promote success in online courses.
  • Track daily attendance and participation; communicate concerns promptly.

Adaptive Pathways:

  • Support students in developing academic plans aligned with their goals
  • Adjust teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Guide students through course content and assessments, ensuring mastery and comprehension.

Community Connections:

  • Maintain open communication with families regarding student progress.
  • Support a positive classroom environment that fosters confidence and accountability.
  • Respond promptly to questions or challenges related to coursework and expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate required.
  • Experience teaching or supporting students in credit recovery or online programs preferred.
  • Must be available for all scheduled program dates (June 23 – July 3).
  • Ability to manage a blended classroom environment with students working at various levels.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is essential.

Working Conditions:

  • Supervise students in a classroom setting, assisting them one-on-one and in small groups.
  • Sit, stand, and walk frequently to provide support and instruction.
  • Use physical movement (e.g., bending, squatting) to interact with students at their level.
  • Must be able to lift materials weighing 0–10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to operate classroom technology, including computers and online learning systems.
  • Must possess strong reading, writing, and math skills to support students across subjects.

Salary: Per CBA


Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
