Crew Dispatcher

The Towboat Crew Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating all vessel crew scheduling, ensuring each towboat is staffed with qualified personnel who meet company standards and regulatory requirements. This role supports daily operations, maintains accurate crew records, and acts as a key communication link between vessels, management, and crew members.

Primarily office-based with frequent communication via phone and email.

Requires after-hours and weekend availability.

• Experience in maritime operations, crew dispatching, or a related field preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work in a 24/7 operations environment.
• Proficient with scheduling systems and basic computer applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, and support vessel operations during emergencies or schedule disruptions.
• Knowledge of RCP, USCG licensing, maritime certifications, and inland river operations is highly desirable.
• Coordinate daily and weekly crew assignments for all vessels, ensuring compliance with RCP manning requirements and company qualification standards.
• Maintain accurate crew rosters, schedules, travel plans, and crew-change logistics while minimizing overtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
• Communicate directly with captains, vessel managers, and operations leadership to confirm crew readiness and address staffing gaps or last-minute call-outs.
• Track crew certifications and expiration dates (TWIC, MMC, Radar, First Aid/CPR, ISNET, PassPort, Powersafe, etc.) and coordinate renewals with HR and training departments.
• Maintain real-time awareness of vessel locations, job assignments, river stages, and operational priorities to position crews effectively.
• Respond rapidly to operational needs, including emergency relief, injury replacements, and high-priority customer requirements.
• Provide professional, respectful communication with crew members regarding schedules, changes, and expectations.
