Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical concepts, medium-voltage electrical systems, electrical test equipment, and standard safety practices
- Proficiency with computers, software, smartphones, and tablets for records, reports, and communication.
- Skilled in analyzing reports/tests and overseeing contractors on electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures, and technical documentation (SOPs, one-lines, manuals).
- Strong problem-solving skills for both simple and complex issues, with minimal supervision.
- Team-oriented, with professional communication and training abilities for other electricians.
- Capable of organizing preventative maintenance programs and required documentation.
- Willingness to work off-hours, weekends, and rotating on-call duty; able to safely use ladders, scaffolding, and tools.
- Texas Journeyman Electrician License
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Electrician Licensure preferred
- 3 years of supervisory experience
Job Description
Responsible for the maintenance, operation, and supervision of personnel performing the maintenance and operation of the campus voltage electrical distribution systems and thermal plant electrical systems in a safe and reliable manner.
Job Duties
- Supervise and perform operation, maintenance, and repair of the campus medium voltage electrical distribution system and components.
- Oversee operation of industrial HMIs and digital relays for main electrical service entrance switchgear.
- Coordinate and manage a preventative maintenance (PM) program for electrical distribution and thermal plant electrical systems.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly work assignments to employees; monitor quality and completion of work.
- Supervise personnel, conduct performance appraisals, provide training, and make hiring recommendations.
- Serve as liaison with contractors on electrical maintenance and project-related work. Review construction drawings and specifications, participate in project meetings, and perform inspections for electrical and thermal plant projects.
- Maintain current electrical one-line diagrams, feeder circuit data, switchgear settings, and outage documentation.
- Manage on-call training and scheduling for electrical distribution crew; ensure ongoing compliance with monthly maintenance training.
Additional Information to Applicants
The applicant will be required to participate in a monthly on-call rotation outside of regular working hours.
