Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Handles all court business as directed by the judges.
• Attends court docket and ensures proper setting as guided by local rules and caseflow management.
• Communicates diligently with court staff including prosecutors, probation officers, clerks, and bailiffs.
• Creates and generates court dockets using Report Manager and distributes to court staff and clerks.
• Answers phone for the court and provides information regarding case status and court conflicts.
• Manages court calendars.
• Receives and distributes confidential court reports (Pre-Sentence Investigations).
• Requests appointed attorneys for indigent defendants via Office of Attorney Appointments.
• Assists court coordinators with daily overflow of work.
• Reviews daily reports for courts and distributes timely to proper court.
• Maintains capital murder court assignment log, conducts timely research, and transfers capital murder cases in the proper rotation.
• Assists in resetting Initial Appearance dockets in accordance with DFCM.
• Monitors companion cases and transfers to proper courts.
• Records defense attorney vacation requests and ensures proper notification has been received in accordance with the Local Rules. Research conflicts with existing court settings.
• Creates defense attorney codes and manages/updates contact information.
• Serves as contact point for County Clerk's office to update attorney contact information for their setting notification system.
• Trains, troubleshoots and tests for DFCM.
• Serves as coordinator for diversion programs and specialty courts, such as FAIP and DIRECT. Attends weekly FAIP meetings and court sessions. Maintains spreadsheet of all participants and distributes to court personnel. Manages FAIP cases from filing to disposition. Sends setting notifications to DIRECT participants and prepares DIRECT transfer orders.
• Serves as court coordinator for Magistrate Court.
• Generates and distributes court setting notifications for request for expunctions.
• Generates and distributes court setting notifications for asset seizures, forfeitures, non-disclosures and any other special hearing request.
• Research non-deliverable fax setting notifications returned by DFCM.
• Notifies Sheriff's Office of surety information changes.
• Performs all other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred.
• Five (5) full-time years related work experience. Additional education will substitute for required experience on a year-by-year basis.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Knowledge of court systems and procedures.
• Must be able to adapt and adjust to requirements of multiple court procedures and work within those procedures.
• Must be able to use office machines, computers, printers, and telephones as well as have good typing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft products and the Integrated Justice Information Online system.
• Working knowledge of the application sections of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures and Penal Code.
