With over 550 five-star Google reviews, we are known for thorough preparation, strong client communication, and professional advocacy.

About the Firm

The Law Offices of Lance Fryrear is a respected Washington criminal defense firm with more than 25 years of experience representing individuals accused of crimes throughout the state. With over 550 five-star Google reviews, we are known for thorough preparation, strong client communication, and professional advocacy.

Our firm is intentionally structured to support excellent defense work. We have a team of seven attorneys, experienced legal staff, and a full-time private investigator on staff who works directly with attorneys on case development, witness work, and defense strategy.

We are not a volume plea mill. We prepare cases properly, advocate responsibly, and hold ourselves to high professional standards.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney who wants to build a long-term career in criminal defense within a professional, well-resourced, and collaborative environment.

This position is ideal for an attorney who:

  • Takes ownership of their cases and clients
  • Values preparation, communication, and ethical advocacy
  • Wants meaningful courtroom responsibility
  • Appreciates structure, support, and high standards

For Experienced & Lateral Attorneys

We welcome applications from experienced criminal defense attorneys and laterals seeking a strong platform and long-term professional home.

What laterals value here:

  • A respected brand with 25+ years in practice
  • 550+ five-star reviews and strong client trust
  • A 7-attorney team with shared standards and collaboration
  • A full-time in-house investigator
  • Autonomy in case handling with meaningful infrastructure and support
  • A culture that prioritizes preparation, professionalism, and client care

If you want better support, better systems, and better quality of life—without sacrificing standards or independence—we encourage you to apply.

What You’ll Do

  • Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal matters
  • Conduct client consultations and maintain consistent communication
  • Appear regularly in court and advocate confidently
  • Draft motions, negotiate with prosecutors, and prepare cases for trial
  • Collaborate with fellow attorneys, staff, and our in-house investigator
  • Continue developing skills through training, mentorship, and feedback

What We’re Looking For

  • Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar
  • Genuine interest in criminal defense and client advocacy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional judgment, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
  • Coachable mindset and desire for long-term growth

Trial experience is a plus, but not required for the right candidate.

This Role Is NOT for You If…

  • You want a low-responsibility or low-accountability position
  • You dislike client communication or view clients as “case numbers”
  • You prefer minimal preparation or cutting corners
  • You struggle with deadlines, follow-through, or attention to detail
  • You are uncomfortable receiving feedback or improving your craft
  • You want a volume-driven practice without high standards

This role is for attorneys who care deeply about their work and take pride in doing criminal defense the right way.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe top-tier defense work requires top-tier support:

  • Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000+, depending on experience and performance
  • Performance-based incentives
  • Platinum-level health insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Life insurance and disability insurance
  • CLEs and ongoing professional development
  • Advanced trial training opportunities, including Trial Lawyers College attendance
  • Unlimited ORCA transit pass for public transportation
  • Office walkable to the Lynnwood light rail station
