The Law Enforcement Records Bureau gathers, analyzes, and disseminates criminal justice data used by New Mexico law enforcement, criminal justice, corrections, courts, and civil agencies to ensure public safety. The bureau maintains complete and accurate records and responds to the needs of the public, law enforcement and criminal justice agencies providing support and customer engagement through our many applications, programs, and services to achieve the mission objectives.
Why does the job exist?
The Criminal History Clearinghouse (CHCH) Unit within the Law Enforcement Records Bureau operates continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide critical criminal history assessments supporting bond determinations and statewide public safety operations. CHCH Analysts access, analyze, and interpret data from multiple secure databases to deliver comprehensive background evaluations to courts and law enforcement agencies. Manage New Mexico's access to national threat coordination platforms, including the FBI's e-Guardian and the RMIN, ensuring effective triage, escalation, and inter-agency response to reported threats. Their work strengthens officer safety, enhances public security, and maintains real-time operational awareness.
How does it get done?
The incumbent applies advanced analytical and research methods to interpret complex law enforcement data and terminology, supporting the identification, investigation, and prevention of criminal activity. During assigned shifts, the CHCH Analyst evaluates intelligence and criminal history information from multiple databases, synthesizes findings, and prepares detailed preliminary and final reports that inform operational and judicial decisions. The analyst collaborates with local, state, and federal partners to validate data accuracy, streamline communication, and ensure all actions comply with state statutes, federal laws, and departmental policies while maintaining strict confidentiality and procedural integrity.

Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and fingerprinting in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations; and is conditional pending results. Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony free, per Section
5.12.1.1 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy.
In addition, the selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico; or pass and receive the Defensive Driving Certificate within six (6) months of date of hire.
This position works in 24-hour, 7 days a week environment where shift work and rotating schedules (day, swing or graveyard) are mandatory.

Office setting, exposure to visual/video display terminal and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs.
