The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Description of Work
This position is located at the Piedmont Triad Regional Employment Office (PTREO) in Asheboro, NC (Randolph County). Position is responsible for processing applicants for certified positions assigned to the PTREO service area.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Effective February 1, 2026, the salary range of the NC07 is $37,377 - $65,408.
Position is responsible for conducting a thorough review of applicant information, including but not limited to the employment application, previous employment and certification documentation, criminal background check, court and military documentation and other records, as applicable, to ensure eligibility for employment in a Criminal Justice certified position.
This position requires thorough knowledge and understanding of Criminal Justice and DAC policies and procedures. Position requires fingerprint technician and DCI Operator certification as well as Notary Public appointment. Requires the ability to run, read, and interpret a thorough DCI criminal background check.
Position assigns and proctors pre-employment testing and contacts medical vendors as needed. Consults with managers and subject matter experts on complex issues and responds to a wide variety of questions from applicants and work location managers.
Responsible for hiring approvals, obtaining start dates and required information from work locations. This requires close interaction with HR staff and managers at various DAC work locations.
Position conducts salary administration for entry level certified positions and maintains applicant hiring records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), WorkDay (WD), and other internal databases. Responsible for high volume work and the ability to meet deadlines to ensure critical vacancies are filled in a timely manner.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Normal business hours are 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Must be able to travel overnight and work overtime as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience

Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required; or 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.EEO Statement
