Samaritan Health Services in Oregon has an opportunity for a Pulmonary Medicine/Critical Care Physician

Samaritan Health Services a non-profit integrated health care delivery system, is seeking a full-time Pulm/CC Physician to join our team in Corvallis, OR. Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center is a 188-bed medical facility located in Corvallis, Oregon, United States. The only hospital in the city, it is a level II trauma center, and serves as the regional hub for Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties.

Our award-winning health system provides exceptional primary care and a range of specialty services throughout the mid-Willamette Valley and Central Oregon coast. The network serves approximately 300,000 residents in Linn, Benton, Lincoln and portions of Polk and Marion counties. Position Highlights

We offer an attractive salary plus incentives, starting bonus, relocation assistance, paid malpractice and tail coverage, CME allowance, Electronic Medical Record (EPIC) and a competitive benefits package.

Work Schedule:

  • A mix of traditional outpatient pulmonary and inpatient critical care services
  • ICU coverage includes 7days on stretches per month in addition to 5–6 night shifts per month
  • Outpatient pulmonary clinic rounds out the remainder of the schedule

Types of Patients Seen:

  • Pulmonary: General pulmonary medicine in a higher acuity community setting including: Lung nodules and masses, Obstructive lung disease, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, pleural effusions, complex respiratory failure, pre-operative evaluations for thoracic surgery and pulmonary hypertension
  • Critical Care: Medical/surgical ICU patients ARDS/mechanical ventilation, shock states, multi-organ failure, end-of-life care coordination

Procedures:

  • Flexible bronchoscopy with BAL, transbronchial biopsy
  • EBUS-TBNA for mediastinal staging
  • Thoracentesis, temporary and indwelling pleural catheter insertion
  • Advanced and interventional bronchoscopic procedures available
  • Central line placement, arterial lines
  • Advanced airway management

Clinical Expectations:

  • Evidence-based approach to mechanical ventilation strategies (lung-protective ventilation, PEEP optimization)
  • Expertise in hemodynamic assessment and vasoactive medication management
  • Proficiency in sedation and analgesia protocols with focus on early mobilization
  • Recognition and management of sepsis, ARDS, and multi-organ dysfunction
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and protocol development
  • Maintain awareness of resource utilization and appropriate level of care decisions
  • Comprehensive evaluation and management of chronic respiratory diseases (COPD, asthma, ILD)
  • Expert interpretation of pulmonary function tests, imaging, and diagnostic studies
  • Evidence-based approach to lung cancer screening, evaluation, and staging
  • Management of complex pleural diseases and respiratory infections
  • Mentor Internal Medicine residents

Job Requirements

  • Should possess excellent clinical skills, communication skills, and a strong commitment to providing excellent care that is team-oriented.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • Board certified or board eligible
