Cryogenic Operations Lab Generalist, Quantum AI

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience in electronics assembly, system integration, and testing.
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Experience with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cryogenic systems.
  • Experience with the interpretation and execution of script-based software.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Familiarity with network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other RF test equipment.
  • Proficiency in test automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL, MATLAB).

About the job

As the Cryogenic Operations Technician you will be responsible for configuring, operating, and maintaining quantum computing systems. You will ensure the functionality and performance of completed and operational quantum computing systems. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving electromechanical and electrical issues, performing scheduled maintenance, and maintaining accurate records or work performed on systems.

The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.


The US base salary range for this full-time position is $99,000-$140,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and integrate electronic hardware, components, and sub-assemblies into quantum computing systems.
  • Calibrate, test, and adjust electronic instruments, components, or systems to meet performance specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive electrical testing, including continuity checks, signal path verification, and functional tests, to ensure system integrity and performance.
  • Utilize various electronic test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and network analyzers, to perform diagnostics and troubleshoot issues.
  • Identify and report hardware, software, and networking issues at the component, module, and system level.
