Contract
Job Purpose:
To supervise and coordinate all activities within the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) to ensure the effective cleaning, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment in accordance with hospital policies and international infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Duties:
Oversee daily operations of the CSSD to ensure timely supply of sterile instruments to all hospital departments.
Ensure all sterilization processes comply with infection prevention and control (IPC) standards and hospital policies.
Monitor and maintain records of sterilization cycles, biological and chemical indicators, and equipment performance.
Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, packaged, labeled, sterilized, and stored.
Coordinate with operating theatres, clinics, and nursing units regarding instrument requests and urgent cases.
Supervise the use and maintenance of sterilization equipment (autoclaves, washers, ultrasonic cleaners, etc.).
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with CBAHI, JCIA, and MOH standards.
Implement and monitor safety procedures to prevent contamination or injury.
Conduct regular audits of sterilization processes and documentation.
Participate in infection control rounds and continuous quality improvement programs.
Staff Supervision:
Supervise and train CSSD staff on sterilization techniques, equipment use, and safety practices.
Prepare duty schedules, monitor attendance, and evaluate staff performance.
Identify training needs and recommend relevant programs for staff development.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory of sterile and non-sterile instruments, consumables, and chemical supplies.
Coordinate with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure availability of required materials.
Monitor equipment maintenance and report malfunctions promptly.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Nursing, Sterilization Technology, or related medical field.
Certification in CSSD / Sterile Processing is preferred.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in CSSD,
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of sterilization methods and infection control standards.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in computer applications and report documentation.
Ability to work under pressure and respond to urgent requests efficiently.
