1. Patient Care & Monitoring
- Provide specialized nursing care to post–cardiac surgery and vascular surgery patients.
- Continuously monitor vital signs, hemodynamics, cardiac rhythms, ventilator settings, and other critical parameters.
- Identify early signs of patient deterioration and take appropriate action promptly.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient status, interventions, and outcomes.
2. Technical Skills & Procedures
- Manage invasive lines such as central venous catheters, arterial lines, PA catheters, etc.
- Handle advanced equipment (ventilators, infusion pumps, IABP, ECMO, dialysis machines, etc.).
- Assist in emergency bedside procedures (intubation, chest tube insertion, pacing, etc.).
- Maintain aseptic techniques to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
3. Medication & Treatment Administration
- Administer and titrate vasoactive drugs, analgesics, sedatives, anticoagulants, and other critical medications as prescribed.
- Ensure safe blood transfusion practices and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Coordinate pain management and post-operative care protocols.
4. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with surgeons, intensivists, anesthetists, perfusionists, and physiotherapists for holistic patient management.
- Participate in daily clinical rounds, providing nursing input on patient progress and needs.
- Coordinate with diagnostic and support services for timely investigations and treatments.
5. Emergency & Crisis Management
- Respond promptly to cardiac arrests, arrhythmias, bleeding, or sudden hemodynamic instability.
- Perform CPR, defibrillation, and assist in advanced life support protocols.
- Ensure readiness of emergency drugs, crash cart, and life-saving equipment at all times.
6. Patient & Family Support
- Educate and counsel patients and families regarding post-surgical recovery, lifestyle modifications, and home care.
- Provide psychological support to patients and relatives during critical illness.
- Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patient attendants.
