Roles and responsibilities
- Perform imaging procedures: Operate CT and X-ray machines to capture diagnostic images of the body.
- Patient care: Prepare patients for the scans, explain the procedures, ensure their comfort and safety, and assist them with positioning.
- Maintain equipment: Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of radiology equipment.
- Collaborate with radiologists: Provide high-quality diagnostic images to assist radiologists and doctors in their assessments.
- Adhere to safety standards: Follow radiation safety protocols and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
Technology and techniques
- X-ray: A conventional 2D image created by passing a narrow beam of X-rays through a part of the body to an imaging plate.
- CT scan: A more advanced imaging technique that uses a rotating X-ray tube and detectors to create multiple cross-sectional images. These images can be stacked to form a 3D representation of the body, providing a more detailed view of organs, tissues, bones, and abnormalities.
