Custodian

POSITION TITLE: Custodian

PROGRAM: OneSource

REPORTS TO: Residential Supervisor

SUPERVISES: N/A

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The main duty of the Custodian is to provide regular upkeep of property. This may include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, and resupplying bathrooms, emptying trash bins and light lawn maintenance. The Custodian must also clean up any spills or other hazards that occur to prevent injuries to people or property.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL LICENSE/TRAINING:
    • Minimum age 21 years old
    • High school diploma/GED preferred.


B. WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years janitorial experience preferred.
  • Experience with facilities maintenance to include general plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Willingness to work flexible shifts to include early morning or late-night shifts.

3. Ability to work well under minimal supervision.

4. Able to follow directions when given.

5. Exceptional attention to detail.

6. Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 30 pounds, as necessary.

7. Knowledge of health and safety precautions.

D.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to successfully pass State, Federal, and Central Registry background checks.
  • Must have a valid Virginia’s driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of personal auto insurance.
  • Must provide annual TB Assessment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Maintain all facilities of OneSource.
  • Perform general clean-up of all areas of each building as directed.
  • Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas, green space, and parking lot.
  • Complete non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders.
  • Remove garbage and recycling daily and prepare bins for weekly pick-up.
  • Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests.
  • Ensure rooms are maintained and fully equipped.
  • Troubleshoot issues with HVAC system, lighting, and indoor climate control, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Executive Director.


EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND WORK AIDS:


Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products to include Outlook, MS Teams, and SharePoint.


FLSA Status:


Non-exempt /Hourly; eligible for overtime. Hours as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly in an office type setting and residential facility type setting with varying degrees of background noise, usually less than moderate. The employee is routinely required to sit and remain in the seated position; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and get up and down off the floor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Lighting and ventilation are available as found in an office environment or normal residential facility setting. Smoking is not permitted inside any company owned/operated facility or vehicle. The employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.


The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
