Position Summary
This is work supervising custodian crews in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and appearance of the buildings on the School of Dentistry Campus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
This position is considered an essential personnel position and must be available to respond to campus emergencies after hours and during campus closures.
The employee may be assigned to the emergency team that remains on campus and or evacuates to an off-site location during emergency events.
This position may be placed on the On-Call rotation.
Must have a current driver’s license.
Knowledge of general institutional cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
Knowledge of clinical cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
Knowledge of the operation and use of commercial-grade housekeeping equipment.
Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
Skill in performing disinfecting procedures.
Skill in clinical cleaning and disinfecting procedures.

Ability to supervise people.
Ability to requisition, distribute and monitor use of supplies and materials.

Visual ability, corrected, to observe dangerous situations in the work area (such as wet floors) in order to redirect people to avoid injuries.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.

Additional Position Information
LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking highly skilled and motivated applicants for the position of Custodian Supervisor B.
Hours of operation is 6:00 am – 2:30 pm

Starting rate of pay for this position is $17.18 per hour, may be adjusted dependent upon applicants’ qualifications. There is also an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Supervise the cleaning of campus buildings
  • Inspections regularly on a varying schedule to improve levels of housekeeping and to reduce complaints from campus population
  • Plan, gives instruction on and inspects the completion of: a) special set-up requests; b) providing manpower during events; c) clean up after events
  • Process payroll time sheets weekly; b) process leave requests daily; c) counsel employees for both outstanding and unsatisfactory job performance; d) conduct new employee evaluation, training and counseling throughout the probationary period
  • Manage work orders
  • oversee the drawing of supplies by individual employees from respective building storage area(s); b) perform weekly inventory of supplies in housekeeping closets in assigned building(s) to ensure correct usage; c) initiate requests for equipment or supplies issued by the storeroom.
