Custody Officer I

Position Description:

What Youll Do

• Ensure security of assigned posts by staying alert and proactive in preventing emergencies and elopements.
• Monitor activities of youth and adolescent patients, responding to and de-escalating disruptive or aggressive behavior.
• Operate and monitor facility security systems, including communications, surveillance, alarms, and perimeter systems.
• Conduct searches of individuals, living areas, and communal spaces to prevent contraband.
• Control and monitor all facility entry and exit points, verifying identification and ensuring compliance with security procedures.
• Respond to emergency calls, applying safe aggression-control techniques to protect individuals and staff.
• Inspect the facility environment for safety risks or hazards.
• Monitor vehicular traffic and maintain surveillance of parking areas.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience

• Completion of basic recruit training course(s) or equivalent as defined by state certification/licensing authority (required, if applicable)

Licenses/Certifications

• Must meet state minimum age requirements (required)
• Valid state drivers license (preferred)
