Custom Sales Designer

Job Summary
As a Construction Designer at Deckscapes of Virginia, you will play a key role in creating high-quality, functional outdoor living spaces that enhance our clients' lifestyles. We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for design and a keen eye for aesthetics, capable of transforming ideas into visually appealing concepts. This role involves collaborating with clients to understand their vision and translating it into effective designs that meet their needs. A background in customer service and sales is highly desirable, as you will be interacting with clients to ensure their satisfaction throughout the design process. You will combine design expertise, sales acumen, and a commitment to exceptional customer service to deliver stunning, client-centered outdoor spaces. Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Sales and Client Relationships

• Develop and nurture client relationships to drive sales and future referrals.
• Conduct client meetings to understand project scope, budget, and material preferences.
• Prepare estimates and detailed renderings for contract proposals, adhering to company pricing and guidelines.

Maintain regular communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle, from concept to post-construction

Design and Project Development

• Create preliminary designs, sketches, and layouts for outdoor living spaces, ensuring functional, aesthetic, and budget alignment.
• Prepare preliminary construction drawings for project details such as framing layouts, patio and landscaping plans, and lighting arrangements.
• Collaborate with the team to research and incorporate zoning regulations, specialty components, and other infrastructure considerations into project designs

Technical Proficiency

• Utilize software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, HubSpot, and 3D rendering tools to prepare and manage project materials.
• Maintain client information and sales progress accurately in HubSpot.
• Ensure project designs adhere to basic construction principles, building codes, and company standards

Customer Service and Problem Solving

• Collaborate with clients to gather requirements and understand their design preferences.
• Develop innovative design concepts that align with client expectations and project goals. Present design ideas and concepts to clients, incorporating their feedback into revisions.
• Deliver excellent customer service through accurate, transparent estimates and contracts.
• Provide support and guidance throughout the construction process to resolve issues as they arise.
• Stay engaged with clients post-construction to maintain satisfaction and encourage repeat business.

Mentorship and Team Engagement

• Provide mentorship to new sales staff, sharing insights to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
• Participate in planning and executing sales exhibits and shows as needed.
• Create high-quality visual designs using industry-standard software tools.
• Ensure all designs adhere to brand guidelines and maintain consistency across projects.
• Manage multiple clients and prospects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly.

• Design Aptitude: Strong aptitude for design with a collaborative, client-centered approach.
• Construction Knowledge: Familiarity with basic construction techniques, materials, and building codes.
• Analytical Skills: Strong math skills and business acumen.
• Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple projects and clients while maintaining excellent service and organization.
• Proven experience in construction design or a related field is preferred.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects and styles.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate design concepts effectively.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Performance Metrics

Performance will be evaluated based on annual targets and goals specific to individual experience and past achievements.

Job Type: Full-time *Salary plus Commission

Pay: *$75,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year

Schedule and Work Environment:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekends and some evenings as needed.
• This role involves both office work and site visits, requiring travel to clients’ homes to conduct measurements and monitor project progress. The environment can range from quiet office settings to active construction sites with varying weather conditions.
