Position Overview
Minuteman Press is seeking a Graphic Designer to join our locally owned and operated team. Candidates with previous experience working in a print shop are highly encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in cultivating long-term relationships with both existing and potential clients. We are looking for an experienced, customer-focused individual who is self-motivated, outgoing, personable, responsive, and organized. Proficiency in graphic design, particularly with Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, and InDesign, is required.
Responsibilities
- Keen attention to detail
- Daily interaction with customers in person, by phone, and via email
- Training provided for proprietary pricing software to generate customer quotes
- Guide customers through their purchasing experience by providing quotes, recommending appropriate products, collecting payments, and sending proofs via email
- Create and present design mockups, incorporating revisions and feedback
- Apply feedback to produce final designs ready for printing
- Review and proofread all designs for print-readiness, including copy, layout, and dimensions
- Support the printing process to ensure color quality and consistency
- Manage timelines and workflow for all print design projects
- Communicate updates, feedback, and any issues with clients, managers, and creative team members
- Uphold brand consistency across all designs and printed materials
- Contribute to team efforts by completing additional tasks as needed
- Maintain detailed notes and organize workflow, adjusting priorities to meet incoming requests; strong multitasking abilities are essential
- Ensure all print projects are completed by their deadlines
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite programs to create print-ready files
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in all client interactions
- Perform standard office functions and general maintenance as required
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a print designer or equivalent role
- Strong portfolio showcasing print design work
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and work effectively under pressure
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to learn new software and techniques
- Strong sense of visual composition
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Understanding of marketing, production, corporate identity, product packaging, advertising, and multimedia design
- Strong PC computer skills
The selected candidate will also cross-train in other aspects of shop operations and small equipment, and will be expected to assist other departments as needed.
Compensation and Schedule
- Starting rate: $18 per hour. Negotiable with experience
- Full-time position: Monday–Friday, no weekends
- Expected hours: 40 per week
