Customer Service Assistant

The Zarrow Regional Library is looking for a Customer Service Assistant who shares our values of exceptional customer service experiences, lifelong learning and curiosity, the freedom to know, and appreciation of diverse perspectives. Our Zone Service Model allows staff the opportunity to work in different areas of the library throughout the day for a variety of duties; from providing information about our services, finding materials and teaching customers about various services and equipment. The Henry Zarrow Regional Library is one of four Regional Libraries in the Tulsa City-County Library system and is home to TCCL’s American Indian Resource Center, which provides resources for and about the American Indian population.

Location: 2224 W. 51st Street, Tulsa, 74107
Salary: $14.42/hour
Bilingual English - Spanish preferred;
Status: Part-Time - 20 hours / week

Schedule:
Tuesday and Wednesday: 9:00am - 1:00pm
Friday: 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Saturday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
Occasional Sunday 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Essential Functions and Qualifications Include:
  • Provides general information in person and by phone assisting customers in locating and discovering materials, connecting with available library services, or providing information about the library, referring reference questions to the appropriate resource;
  • Bilingual English - Spanish preferred;
  • Assists customers with self check-out machines by instructing how to charge, renew, and discharge library materials to/from customers;
  • Enjoys a work atmosphere where staff are encouraged to be creative, be innovative and try something new.
  • Registers customers by issuing and updating library cards;
  • Sorts and routes returned materials to proper location and ensures that the library is neat and organized so customers can easily find what they need;
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required;
  • Customer Service Experience preferred;
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
For most positions work regularly requires stooping, bending and light lifting such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds). Some positions require moderate physical exertion, such as regularly lifting moderately heavy items (up to 40 pounds) such as crates full of books or pushing heavy (up to 100 pounds) wheeled carts full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.
