Customer Service Representative

As a first-to-market solution, Menu Freedom provides pre-created, USDA-certified weeks of chef-developed menus and recipes licensed to schools across the United States. We maintain strong strategic partnerships with nationally recognized industry leaders and are supported by an experienced marketing communications team and a dedicated internal R&D and client services staff.

We are seeking a team member with K–12 school nutrition experience and a strong understanding of the daily challenges faced by Foodservice Directors. This role requires basic computer proficiency and is focused on delivering consistent, high-level customer service to our clients.

Job Summary
The Customer Service Representative is a key member of the Menu Freedom team and reports directly to the Director of Client Relations. This position serves as a primary point of contact for clients and leads, providing day-to-day support, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive overall client experience.

This role also includes commission opportunities, offering 10% commission on all net new sales, as well as commission for securing annual renewals for clients under your management.

Compensation

  • Full-time, hourly position
  • Commission eligible: 10% on net new sales and annual client renewals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain ongoing, personalized communication with clients and prospects via phone, chat, and email
  • Serve as a key pre/post-sales contact for the Menu Freedom client base
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, encouraging testimonials and referrals
  • Act as a client advocate by communicating feedback, pain points, and enhancement needs to internal leadership
  • Collaborate internally with Menu Freedom teams to improve product functionality and user experience
  • Provide weekly activity reports outlining KPIs, challenges, and opportunities
  • Support with sales and customer service as needed, including coverage during employee absences
  • Assist with lead generation efforts and ongoing client communications to achieve sales
  • Participate in national and state SNA conferences, distributor trade shows, and other industry events as required
  • Maintain accurate CRM data entry and records
  • Participate in weekly department meetings, held remotely or in person

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of K–12 foodservice experience
  • Food distribution industry experience or working knowledge preferred
  • Working knowledge of HHFKA and applicable USDA nutrition requirements
  • Ability to work rotating weekday shifts beginning at 6:30 AM or 7:30 AM
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff, administrators, superintendents, and school boards
  • Strong presentation skills via phone, webinar/screen sharing, and in-person formats
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform under pressure with minimal supervision
  • CRM experience preferred, but not required
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Strong team-oriented mindset and commitment to client success

Work Environment & Equipment

  • Dedicated office space provided
  • Option to work remotely or in-office
  • Company-issued laptop provided, including Outlook, antivirus software, Zoho CRM, Demo Menu Freedom account, and SharePoint access

Travel Requirements

  • Attendance at 3–5 trade shows annually, including potential out-of-state travel
  • Approximately 10–20 school site visits per year
  • Mileage reimbursed at the current federal rate
  • Travel expenses reimbursed through preapproved expense reports

Growth Opportunities

  • Menu Freedom is in a development and growth stage, with future opportunities anticipated in sales, support, operations, and administrative roles
  • Bonus structure is currently under evaluation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
