Customer Support Staff (Retail store)

Position Overview:

The Sales & Support Staff is responsible for assisting customers in selecting products, providing product knowledge, ensuring shelves are well-stocked, and supporting smooth store operations. This role combines salesmanship, customer service, and store support, making it vital for enhancing customer experience and driving sales.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Customer Assistance & Sales

Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.

Understand customer requirements (e.g., baking tools, ingredients, consumables) and recommend suitable products.

Inform customers about promotions, discounts, and new arrivals.

Upsell and cross-sell related products (e.g., suggesting cake boxes with whipping cream or spatulas with chocolate compound).

2. Product Knowledge

Develop a strong understanding of baking tools, raw materials, and ingredients.

Provide guidance on product usage, handling, and suitability.

Stay updated about new stock, brands, and substitutes for commonly used items.

3. Store Support & Operations

Ensure shelves are properly stocked, clean, and organized.

Assist in receiving, unpacking, and displaying stock.

Check expiry dates and report near-expiry or damaged products to the supervisor.

Support cashier by packing items for customers during rush hours.

4. Customer Service

Answer customer queries politely and effectively.

Assist wholesale customers in preparing and gathering bulk orders.

Handle complaints at the first level and escalate to store supervisor if needed.

5. Record Keeping & Reporting

Maintain daily log of customer requests, frequently asked products, and out-of-stock items.

Provide input to management on best-selling and slow-moving products.

Report repeated customer complaints or product feedback.

6. Team Coordination

Work closely with cashier for smooth checkout operations.

Assist store manager in implementing promotional displays.

Cooperate with warehouse team for timely stock replenishment.

7. Compliance & Standards

Follow SOPs for handling food-grade consumables and ingredients.

Maintain store cleanliness and professional behavior.

Ensure pricing labels are updated on shelves.

8. Qualifications and Experience:

Candidate should hold at least a Inter/Bachelor’s degree with 01-02 years of related work experience.

Should be proficient at the use of MS Office.

Good communications and interpersonal skills.
