Customs Clearance & Transportation Executive

For DP World Logistics Egypt - Freight Forwarding

Job Purpose: Oversee the entire journey of the shipped goods, ensuring they reach their destination efficiently and compliantly.

Key Accountabilities :

Customs Clearances

• Process all import/export documents like bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs forms.
• Collaborate with customs authorities to manage queries, resolve holds, and facilitate timely release of cargo.
• Confirm correct classification of shipments (HS codes), tariff application, and duties calculation.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness to avoid delays.
• Make sure shipments comply with ever-changing trade regulations and specific customs requirements of the destination country.
• Liaise with customs authorities to answer questions, address issues, and facilitate the smooth clearance of goods.
• Investigate and resolve any customs hold-ups that may arise due to missing paperwork, discrepancies, or restricted items.

Transportation:

• Coordinate the entire shipment journey, from booking cargo space on planes, ships, or trucks to final delivery at the destination.
• Negotiation rates with vendors, and trucking companies, considering factors like cost, efficiency, and the client's specific needs.
• Arrange inland transportation (pick-up and delivery) at both the origin and destination points,
• Ensure the goods get to and from Customer’s premises.
• Track shipments throughout their journey and keep clients informed about the status of their goods.

Overall Management:

• Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure everyone is on the same page.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and safety regulations throughout the entire process.
• Look for ways to continuously improve the freight forwarding process to save time and money for the company and its clients.
• Provide clients with accurate quotes that consider all potential costs to avoid any surprises later.

Qualification, Experience & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree
• 5:7 years working experience in the same field (Clearance, and freight forwarding)
• Strong knowledge in Freight Forwarding Activities, Regularity compliance, Customs Regulations and Procedures.
• V. Good English Language skills
• V. Good Communication Skills
• Able to manage clients
• V. Good in Microsoft Office Programs: Excel, Word, Outlook
• V. Good Customer services skills.
• V. good Negotiation and persuasion skills
• Able to work with different internal and external teams and track multiple processes.
• Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Able to cope with high work pressure.
