What You’ll Do
The Cybersecurity Engineer I ensures that security tools and technologies are properly configured and maintained. This role also addresses security issues within the implemented solutions. Responsibilities also include end user support, coordinating actions across cross-functional teams, and performing other technical and administrative tasks as needed.
Upgrade network, endpoint, and cloud security systems by monitoring security environment.
- Identify security gaps, and implement enhancements.
- Collaborate with IT, Architecture, and Product/Project Managers to support secure onboarding of new applications and drive strategic initiatives.
- Manage lifecycles for digital certificates used across the Firm deployed by internal and external Certificate Authorities.
- Partner closely with IT or business teams across the Firm to implement secure endpoints that reduce business risk by ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Enhance department and organization reputation by delivering quality results and exploring opportunities to increase value and raise awareness of Cybersecurity threats and technologies.
- Participate in knowledge sharing with other engineers and develop solutions efficiently.
- Ability to stay updated on emerging security threats and technologies.
- Adhere to Firm IT processes, procedures and policies.
- Escalate issues to management as necessary to ensure proper communication and escalation.
- Ability to work weekends, and after hours.
- Participate in an on-call schedule/rotation.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a strong commitment to supporting team and firm objectives.
What You’ll Bring
Education, Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- At least five (5) years in an IT-related field and two (2) years in cybersecurity-related field required.
Required
- Hands on experience of security administration and role-based security controls.
- Hands on experience with Next-Gen AV (NGAV) and Endpoint Detection Response solutions such as CrowdStrike.
- Hands on experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) such as Sentinel, LogRhythm, Splunk, etc.
- Hands on experience with cybersecurity-related technologies/agents including web proxy, privileged escalation management/application allowlisting, data loss prevention (DLP), or CASB.
- Hands on experience with Observability Tools such as Cribl or BindPlane.
- Hands on experience of authentication technologies and their interaction with different platforms, both on-site and remote.
- The ability to communicate technical topics to a non-technical audience.
- The ability to research and solve complex security and networking challenges.
- The ability to manage with multiple projects simultaneously while providing “white glove” customer service.

Compensation
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Chicago. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. Compensation Range:
Chicago: $114,000 - $134,000
