About the Role:
The Cybersecurity Technician will be responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of cybersecurity systems and infrastructure. The role requires strong hands-on technical expertise in cybersecurity tools, systems, and practices. The ideal candidate will ensure the security, integrity, and availability of IT systems by detecting threats, responding to incidents, and supporting cybersecurity operations across the organization and client environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Security Systems Installation & Support
- Install, configure, and maintain cybersecurity tools such as firewalls, antivirus, EDR/XDR solutions, SIEM systems, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Support deployment of security solutions across network, server, and endpoint environments.
- Ensure proper integration of security tools with existing IT infrastructure.
2. Monitoring & Threat Detection
- Continuously monitor security alerts and logs using SIEM and other monitoring tools.
- Identify and analyze potential security threats, vulnerabilities, and suspicious activities.
- Escalate incidents as per defined security protocols and response procedures.
3. Incident Response & Troubleshooting
- Assist in responding to cybersecurity incidents including malware attacks, phishing attempts, and unauthorized access.
- Perform root cause analysis and support remediation efforts.
- Document incidents and contribute to post-incident reports.
4. Vulnerability Assessment & Support
- Conduct regular vulnerability scans and assist in penetration testing activities.
- Support patch management and system hardening processes.
- Identify security gaps and recommend corrective actions.
5. Network & Endpoint Security
- Support configuration and monitoring of network security devices (firewalls, VPNs, routers).
- Ensure endpoint security compliance across all systems and devices.
- Assist in securing cloud environments if applicable.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation of security configurations, incidents, and procedures.
- Prepare technical reports on system security status and incidents.
- Support audit and compliance requirements as needed.
7. Collaboration & Technical Support
- Work closely with IT teams, engineers, and consultants to implement cybersecurity measures.
- Provide technical support for cybersecurity-related issues.
- Assist senior cybersecurity staff in implementing advanced security solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity or IT security roles.
- Strong technical knowledge of cybersecurity tools and technologies (firewalls, SIEM, antivirus, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection).
- Experience in monitoring security systems and handling incident response.
- Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, routing, switching).
- Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools and patch management processes.
- Relevant certifications preferred: CompTIA Security+, CEH, Cisco Security, or equivalent.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, security-sensitive environment.
