The D365 F&O Finance Application Specialist provides expert-level application support, administration, and end-user training within the Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment. This role bridges the gap between technical system health and deep functional accounting/distribution processes, leveraging AI-powered tools and automation to accelerate resolution and drive efficiency. The specialist serves as the primary lead for resolving complex incidents that disrupt business-critical operations, ensuring system stability, data integrity, and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
Finance Application Support

Expert Troubleshooting: Resolve application errors, posting failures, and period-close issues across GL, AR, AP, Bank Rec, Tax, and SCM modules.

End-User Empowerment: Lead training initiatives and provide best-practice guidance to drive system adoption.

Accounting Integrity: Investigate data discrepancies in financial transactions, subledger-to-GL reconciliations, and intercompany accounting.

Tax & E-Invoicing: Understanding of regional tax setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance within D365 F&O. Support e-invoicing requirements and integrations across applicable jurisdictions.

SCM & Inventory: Support the financial element of transactions and inventory movements, including the integration of Advanced Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) with finance.

AI-Driven Efficiency: Leverage AI assistants and automation tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, AI agents, intelligent workflows) to streamline troubleshooting, accelerate root-cause analysis, and enhance productivity across finance operations.

Legal Entity Management: Lead the creation and configuration of new legal entities from scratch, including chart of accounts, posting profiles, and financial dimensions. Acts as an expert advisor, exercising independent judgment to develop, recommend, and implement critical operational strategies.

Security & Compliance: Manage user access, security roles, and duty assignments to ensure strict segregation of duties.

Environment Lifecycle: Manage service updates and environment refreshes (Production to UAT/QA) using LifeCycle Services (LCS).

Data Migration: Utilize the Data Management Framework (DMF) to migrate legal entities and financial data from legacy ERP systems.

AI Enablement: Configure and champion Claude, Microsoft Copilot and other AI tools and capabilities within D365 F&O, including prompt engineering for finance workflows, AI-assisted journal entries, and intelligent process automation.

Financial Intelligence: Design and modify complex reports using D365 Financial Reporter, AI tools, Power BI, SSRS.

Modern Integration: Support and maintain data synchronization between D365, Microsoft Fabric, and the Power Platform.

ERP Integrations: Understanding of finance-related ERP integrations, including interfaces with banks, expense management tools (e.g., Concur), payroll systems (e.g., ADP), and other third-party finance platforms.

SQL Analysis: Query and analyze data from SQL Server to support audits and troubleshooting.

Design, develop, configure, and test D365 finance system changes prior to deployment, ensuring compatibility with existing implementation elements
