Job Summary
Reporting directly to a Felony Prosecutor III, responsible for providing information and support to victims and witnesses of crimes that occur within the jurisdiction of the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office, and to be a liaison between those individuals and the District Attorney’s Office personnel.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Maintains knowledge of cases and case status
Sends a victim letter detailing victim rights, the court process, restitution information and forms, and/or a victim impact statement (VIS)
Assists victims in completing Crime Victim’s Compensation (CVC) applications and VIS, as needed
Advises victims of availability of counseling and other resources and services available through CVC and Texas Victim Information Notification Everyday (VINE)
Serves as the District Attorney’s point of contact for victims by answering questions and receiving and processing paperwork/documents, including Emergency Protective Orders
Communicates frequently via telephone with victims following up on the status of their case and answers questions
Meets with victims to discuss matters related to the case
Documents actions by entering notes into case management system
Schedules meetings between victims and prosecutors and maintains calendar related to those meetings
Attends victim meetings with prosecutors and enters meeting notes into the case management system
Accompanies the victim in trial and other court proceedings
Ensures contact is made with victim regarding paid restitutions, validates address, and processes check request via the County Auditor’s Office
Processes returned mail from the victim by logging into the case management system
Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
Performs special duties as assigned
Grand Jury Dates Only

Notifies victims of Grand Jury results, as directed by prosecutor

Provides VIS form to victim for indicted cases within 10 days

Attaches victim correspondence in case management system and documents the attachment
Trial Prep – Trials

Sets up meetings for prosecutors as requested

Assists and supports victims/families during trial week

Assists with planning of National Crime Victim’s Right Week Ceremony (NCVRW) – Every April

Assists with planning of Champions for Justice CAC/DART Conference – Every May

Assists with planning of Tree of Angels Ceremony – Every December

Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying

Position involves occasional lifting and carrying of up to fifty (50) pounds and exertion of up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force to move objects

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience in criminal justice, public administration or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other job-related technology

Experience working in a District Attorney Office, County Government, and/or State Agency

Experience working with victims of crime and knowledge of the criminal justice system in a public-sector setting
