Dairy Manager

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly customer service.
  • Assists customers by making product suggestions.
  • Engages in suggestive selling and sales techniques (phone, intercom, in‑person).
  • Answers/returns calls; receives and resolves customer complaints; escalates to Store Director when needed.
  • Rotates and removes outdated or spoiled product; ensures cleanliness of department.
  • Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Ensures proper pricing, clean shelves, and presentation standards.
  • May assist other areas within the Grocery Department.
  • Maintains department standards and requirements.
  • Follows company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Ensures proper code‑dating compliance for all products.
  • May assist with physical inventory (every 6 months).
  • Controls inventory to ensure product quantity, quality, and freshness per division directives.
  • Stocks and rotates product; maintains orderly stock conditions in back room and all dairy areas.
  • Controls shrink and costs.
  • Utilizes proper product handling and preparation techniques; operates pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, Sterilox machine.
  • Performs receiving duties: breaks down loads, verifies invoices, inspects quality, reports shortages, stocks/rotates product.
  • Follows temperature guidelines; adheres to proper storage and packaging techniques; maintains accurate paperwork and department records.
  • Completes and monitors daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and other required documents.
  • Ensures proper temperature levels for all products; complies with labeling laws and regulations.
  • Follows all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures sanitation and cleanliness of work areas, coolers, equipment, and display cases.
  • Implements emergency procedures during equipment/software malfunctions.
  • Uses computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.
  • Adheres to company grooming and dress code standards.
  • Performs all duties safely, accurately, honestly, and with integrity.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Skills and Physical Requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; maintains professional demeanor with customers and coworkers.
  • Frequently lifts/maneuvers items up to approximately 50 lbs; frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing/pulling heavy equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye‑hand coordination; ability to stand for long periods.
  • Mental alertness required for safety and accuracy; must understand basic math, weights, measures, perishability, product handling, sanitation, labeling, and department procedures.
  • Operates phone, pallet jack, hand truck, knives, scissors, safety cutters, Sterilox machine; uses cleaning supplies.
  • Uses computer software and electronic ordering devices.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays; schedule varies; good attendance required.
  • Possible exposure to hazards associated with equipment and work aids.
Work Environment
  • Typically works in a temperature‑controlled environment.
  • Frequent exposure to refrigerated conditions around 35°F; possible exposure to freezer temperatures around –20°F.
  • Occasional travel, including overnight travel, may be required.

Pay Transparency:



Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.


  • For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
