Responsible for leading the high school’s dance program through classroom instruction and extracurricular choreography. This includes developing curriculum, directing performances, fostering student creativity and discipline, and promoting dance as a form of expression, wellness, and artistic achievement. What You'll Do:
- Design and implement standards-based curriculum for various dance styles (e.g., ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop)
- Plan and conduct rehearsals, performances, and school/community dance events
- Teach choreography, musicality, and stage presence appropriate to student abilities
- Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, and travel.
- Promote creativity, collaboration, and respect among diverse student groups
- Manage dance program logistics, including scheduling, costuming, and facility use
- Maintain inventory of equipment, music, and costumes; coordinate maintenance and purchases
- Collaborate with other arts staff and school personnel on interdisciplinary initiatives
- Communicate with parents and stakeholders about student progress and program events
- Oversee program budget, fundraising efforts, and student recruitment
What You’ll Need:
- High school diploma or GED minimum required
- 2+ years of experience teaching and choreographing for student dancers
- 2+ experience managing school dance programs or competitive dance teams.
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
- Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
