Data Analyst Senior

JOB DESCRIPTION

HealthPartners is hiring a Senior Data Analyst.
POSITION PURPOSE:
Our mission is to provide simple and affordable healthcare. HealthPartners teams use data to improve patient and member experience, improve health, and reduce the per capita cost of health care. The Digital Analytics team is hiring a Senior Data Analyst responsible for delivering digital product reports, dashboards, and insights to inform product decisions. They will work collaboratively with digital product owners, leadership, and other key stakeholders to understand the business problem, refine requirements, and prioritize the request. Through this, they will act as a consultant and guide the customer in shaping their data request so it’s most meaningful, intuitive, and decision ready. The Senior Data Analyst will be a part of a scrum-like team of other analysts and engineers supporting Digital and Marketing that connect regularly and collaborate as needed to support the customer. They maintain a working knowledge of a business domain and its associated data, and provide visualization, analysis, validation, and consultation services. Together with their teams, they work on building scalable solutions to extract knowledge from data and deliver that knowledge as needed and at scale.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Partner with business stakeholders, domain experts, and data engineers to define problems and identify data-driven solutions
  • Gather and refine requirements through user stories and translate business needs into analytical deliverables
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to support decision-making
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including ROI analyses and domain-specific metrics
  • Perform data modeling, cleansing, integration, and validation across multiple data sources
  • Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and quality; contribute to data governance and stewardship practices
  • Build and maintain data assets such as tables, views, and curated datasets
  • Support product and business strategy through data-driven insights and recommendations
  • Set up and execute test cases to validate that analytic and software solutions meet the business acceptance criteria
  • Communicate solution tradeoffs to business partners to frame and influence project decisions
  • Leverage internal and external sources to validate data accuracy and benchmark results
  • Adhere to data privacy, security, and de-identification standards when working with sensitive data (e.g., claims and clinical data)

REQUIRED SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in economics, mathematics, business, computer science, data or social science, operations research, statistics, or a related quantitative field. Alternate experience and education in equivalent areas is acceptable.
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards using tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
  • Strong data modeling experience (including DAX and Power Query)
  • Experience integrating and analyzing complex data from multiple sources
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to communicate insights through clear data storytelling
  • Experience presenting findings and actionable recommendations to stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, curious, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams and with various levels of leadership

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in healthcare or familiarity with healthcare operations
  • Experience working in agile environments (Scrum, Jira, etc.)
  • Experience using Azure tools (Data Lake, DevOps, Power Automate)
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding systems; ICD-10, CPT4, DRG, GPI.
  • Understanding of data architecture and integration concepts

    Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Pay within our ranges may also be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities as well as internal equity. Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation based on role (e.g., shift differential, bonus, sales incentive, productivity pay, etc.).
