Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Data Annotation Team Lead to oversee the daily operations of our data labeling team. This role involves managing a group of annotators, ensuring high-quality labeled datasets, optimizing annotation workflows, and collaborating closely with Machine Learning, Product, and QA teams to support model development.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Management:

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of data annotators, including onboarding and training.
• Manage task allocation, schedules, and performance evaluations.
• Maintain a positive team culture focused on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance & Process Improvement

• Establish and enforce quality standards for annotations.
• Conduct regular audits of annotated data and provide constructive feedback to annotators.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement process improvements for increased productivity and data accuracy.
• Develop and maintain annotation guidelines, SOPs, and documentation.

Project Coordination

• Collaborate with ML engineers and data scientists to understand annotation requirements and edge cases.
• Break down complex annotation projects into clear tasks and timelines.
• Track project progress and ensure deadlines, quality metrics, and deliverables are met.
• Communicate project updates, risks, and blockers to stakeholders.

Tools & Technology

• Use and administer labeling platforms (e.g., Labelbox, Scale AI, SuperAnnotate, CVAT, Amazon SageMaker Ground Truth).
• Assist in tool configuration, taxonomy setup, and workflow customization.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with engineering when needed.

Data Compliance & Security

• Ensure all annotation activities follow data privacy, confidentiality, and security policies.
• Maintain secure handling of sensitive or proprietary data sets.

QualificationsRequired

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Linguistics, Psychology, or related field—or equivalent experience.
• 2–4+ years of experience in data annotation, data operations, or similar roles.
• 1–2+ years of experience managing or mentoring teams.
• Strong understanding of annotation types (e.g., image, text, audio, video) and common labeling frameworks.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.

Preferred

• Experience working with ML/AI model development teams.
• Familiarity with quality control methods (e.g., inter-annotator agreement, sampling).
• Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (Python, SQL) is a plus.
• Experience with agile methodologies and project management tools (Jira, Trello, Asana).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
