Data Architect

JOB SUMMARY

Data Architect, BI is responsible for ensuring that CCAD’s strategic data architecture will support the organization’s

strategic goals. Role requires a broad knowledge of the healthcare industry, its products and processes, with sound

data architecture principles and a technical understanding of CCAD’s multiple source systems.

The data architect will work closely with CCAD’s database administrators, ETL developers, BI colleagues, and business

data analysts, to design and develop effective strategic data architectures. The individual should be a passionate

problem solver, highly focused, and able to function in a fast paced collaborative team environment. The data architect

will have administration, architecture, design, development and implementation responsibilities at a project level, and

the enterprise level. This position will play a critical role administering CCAD’s data repository and evolving CCAD’s

Enterprise Data Model.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Architect will be involved in the full development life cycle of the data warehouse assets. This will include:

Strategy

· Develop data policies and data standards, including data security, information assurance, data retention, data

stewardship policies.

· Identify systems and capabilities to enable the strategic data strategy.

Design

· Conduct business requirements elicitation and analysis.

· Design the logical and the supporting physical data models that will host the data needed to support the

strategic information.

· Architect new BI data assets and evolve existing BI data assets.

· Design effective ways of capturing data into the strategic data assets.

Development & Transition

· Work with the ETL team to develop efficient and effective strategic extraction & integration solutions.

· Work with the ETL team and the business data analysts to test the strategic extraction & integration solutions.

· Work with the development team to improve the release and change management processes in respect to the

strategic data architecture.

Operation

· Assist operations in troubleshooting strategic data related questions and issues.

Continuous Improvement

· Continually improve all aspects of the strategic data architecture.

Knowledge Management

· Will be responsible for the implementation and management of a Master Data Management solution to enable

the centralized management of business critical data. This will include the creation of a metadata registry that

allows domain-specific stakeholders to maintain their own data elements.

· This formal description of the metadata will include the compilation and maintenance of the following artifacts:

Business Semantics, Data Definitions, Data Models, Data Flow Diagrams, Metadata Workflow

Management

.Undertakes other such reasonable duties as required.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a

keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing,

operate audiovisual equipment used during training programs, physically move, lift and carry training equipment and

materials, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD, stand in front of an audience

for up to eight (8) hours a day and lift up to 30 lbs.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education

· Bachelor's degree is required (Computer-science, Information management)

· The Bachelor's degree must include courses in computer architecture, data structures and database design.

· Master’s Degree is preferred.

Experience Data Architecture Experience ·

8 + years of experience in designing the logical and physical designs for enterprise data warehouses, data marts and business intelligence driven solutions.

· 8+ years of logical and physical data modeling including transactional, dimensional, star schema, snowflake schemas, and operational data stores ·

8+ years of experience with the Kimball and Inmon database design methodologies.

· 6+ years of experience of implementing data integration solutions on cross platform systems.

· 4+ years of experience in driving metadata architecture and master data management (MDM) solutions. Bonus Experience

· 4+ Years Unified Modeling Language (UML).

· 4+ Years XML, including schema definitions (XSD) and transformations.

· 2+ Years Tableau experience.

· 4+ years of experience in performing BI analysis.

· 2+ years of experience with supporting unstructured data. Technical Experience

· 6+ Years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2008 and above) .

· 6+ Years of experience coding in T-SQL.

· 4+ Years of experience with writing SSIS packages.

Healthcare & Business Experience ·

6+ years of interaction with the line of business, demonstrating both excellent verbal, and written communication skills.

· 6+ years of collaborative software engineering, teamwork experience.

· 4+ years of experience in the healthcare industry, preferably within a hospital setting.

Certification and

Licensure ·

MCSA : SQL Server
