1. JOB PURPOSE

The Technical Consultant, Data Center serves as the technical anchor for data center EPC projects, bridging the gap between bidding and execution phases. This role combines deep technical expertise in data center design with hands-on project execution experience to ensure successful delivery of data center infrastructure projects. Based in the offshore office, this position supports bidding teams with accurate pricing and resource estimation derived from execution experience, while collaborating closely with onshore Sales teams, and Bidding teams, Project Managers, and contractors to ensure technical excellence from detailed design through commissioning.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 Design Review & Validation

  • Lead detailed design reviews for data center EPC projects including electrical, mechanical, and civil systems
  • Validate engineering calculations, equipment selections, and system configurations
  • Ensure designs comply with project specifications, international standards (TIA-942, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE), and local codes
  • Identify design risks and propose mitigation strategies to project teams
  • Coordinate design interfaces between multiple disciplines and contractors

2.2 Bidding Support - Pricing & Resource Estimation

  • Provide execution-based inputs for accurate cost estimation during bidding phase
  • Develop detailed resource plans including manpower, equipment, and material requirements based on project scope
  • Estimate labor hours, productivity rates, and crew compositions for installation and commissioning activities
  • Review and validate Bills of Quantities (BoQs) from an execution perspective, identifying gaps or underestimations
  • Contribute to risk-adjusted pricing by identifying potential execution challenges and associated contingencies
  • Support value engineering initiatives by proposing cost-effective alternatives based on field experience
  • Provide realistic schedule inputs and milestone durations based on actual execution benchmarks
  • Collaborate with bidding teams to develop competitive yet achievable technical and commercial proposals

2.3 Project Execution Support

  • Provide technical guidance to site teams during installation and construction phases
  • Review and shop drawings, method statements, and installation procedures
  • Support resolution of technical issues and design changes during construction
  • Monitor technical quality and compliance through document reviews
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to address technical challenges and maintain project schedules

3. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Professional certifications such as ATD, CDCDP or equivalent are highly desirable

3.2 Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in data center design, engineering, or construction
  • 5+ years of experience in project execution, site supervision, or commissioning
  • Demonstrated experience with data center EPC projects from design through handover
  • Proven track record in cost estimation, resource planning, and bid support activities
  • Track record of successful project delivery meeting quality, schedule, and budget targets
  • Experience working with international contractors and cross-functional teams

3.3 Technical Skills

  • Expert knowledge of data center infrastructure: power distribution (MV/LV switchgear, UPS, generators), cooling systems (precision cooling, chillers, free cooling, Liquid Cooling), and critical facility construction
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, installation practices, and quality standards
  • Proficiency in cost estimation techniques, resource loading, and productivity analysis
  • Proficiency in design review tools: AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or equivalent
  • Deep knowledge of testing and commissioning procedures for critical facilities
  • Familiarity with project controls, scheduling tools (Primavera, MS Project), and document management systems

3.4 Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and coordination skills for managing technical aspects of complex projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong commercial awareness with ability to translate execution experience into accurate estimates
  • Problem-solving mindset with ability to address construction and commissioning challenges
  • Quality-focused with attention to detail and commitment to technical excellence
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams across multiple time zones
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently in a remote/offshore environment
  • Fluency in English.
