Data Center Consultant – Sr. Advisory Leadership

Position Summary

Serve as the owner’s trusted consultant to shape, govern, and deliver a hyperscaler-attractive data center from concept through commissioning. You will act as Owner’s Representative to the A/E team, mechanical contractor, and general contractor, and ensure the facility is liquid-cooling–capable with the flexibility, reliability, and cost structure hyperscalers demand. This role also requires strong project management skills to drive planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and stakeholder alignment. Success looks like on-time, on-budget milestones; a clean commissioning/IST; and a fit-for-purpose basis of design (BoD) aligned to hyperscale standards.

Key Responsibilities

Owner’s Rep & Governance

  • Represent the owner across A/E, GC, and mechanical trades; chair design reviews, constructability reviews, and weekly OAC meetings.
  • Establish stage-gate governance, change management, and document control.
  • Review contracts, scopes, pay applications, allowances, and contingency usage; drive value engineering without eroding reliability.

Design Development & Technical Oversight

  • Drive compliance with hyperscaler design guides, ASHRAE TC 9.9, and applicable codes.
  • Oversee engineering deliverables: mechanical/electrical one-lines, CFD modeling, arc-flash/coordination studies, and access/maintenance planning.
  • Verify redundancy, monitoring, and controls integration.
  • Project Management Integration
  • Develop and maintain project charters, schedules (Primavera/MS Project), and budgets.
  • Manage project scope, baseline control, risk registers, and issue logs.
  • Conduct stakeholder updates with executive dashboards and project health reporting.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment across contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders.
  • Apply PM methodologies (PMBOK/Agile/Lean) to ensure disciplined execution.

Risk, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain active risk register and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety/QHSE standards, permitting, and AHJ approvals.

Stakeholder & Tenant Engagement

  • Translate tenant requirements into design deliverables and ICDs.
  • Provide executive dashboards on cost, schedule, risk, and readiness.
  • Facilitate workshops and steering committees to align stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years in data center design/construction/commissioning; 3–5+ years as Owner’s Rep or program lead for mission-critical builds.
  • Strong background in project management: cost, schedule, risk, scope, and stakeholder management.
  • Hands-on commissioning oversight and successful turnover to operations.
  • Proficiency with project controls and tools: Primavera, MS Project, Revit, Bluebeam, and digital commissioning tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • PMP, PE, LEED AP, or CxA strongly preferred.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Project leadership with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Expertise in liquid-cooling system design, operations, and risk mitigation.
  • Strong commercial acumen in contracts, pay apps, and change order management.
  • Ability to balance technical oversight with client-facing executive reporting.
  • Excellent documentation and presentation skills

If you are a motivated and results-driven individual with a passion for data center services and a knack for building strong client relationships, we want to hear from you. Join us in revolutionizing the data center industry and apply today!
