The Control Room Systems/Data Center Engineer – Level 2 will plan, prepare, design, implement, operate, and optimize data networks to support Roads O&M operations. The role involves working closely with system integrators, managing implementation activities, and ensuring high network availability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute all phases of the network lifecycle, including Planning, Design, Implementation, Operation, and Optimization (PDIOO).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop architectural frameworks that align IT infrastructure with business goals.
- Oversee ICT projects, integrations, and focus groups to reduce redundancy, optimize costs, and enhance system synergy.
- Coordinate with business architects to translate strategic objectives into actionable designs and roadmaps.
- Create future vision architectures to accelerate service delivery and meet cost and risk reduction objectives.
- Lead and support Regional Network Management Control Room operations, upgrades, and enhancements.
- Provide technical support for complex network upgrades and migration activities.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve advanced network issues.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers while providing escalation support for advanced technologies.
- Collaborate with Cisco TAC for escalated troubleshooting and resolution.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar role.
- CCIE Data Center certification (mandatory).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electronics & Communication Engineering.
- Proficiency in managing and configuring medium to large networks.
- Strong understanding of LAN, SAN, NAS, and Cybersecurity environments.
- Valid CCNA Routing & Switching certification.
Desirable:
- Project Management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent).
- Experience in Asset Affairs business functions.
- Familiarity with VMware vSphere and virtualization technologies.
- Experience with voice systems (advantageous but not mandatory).
Technical Expertise
- Skilled in Cisco UCS servers (Blade/Rackmount) design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience deploying virtual machines/appliances on vCenter.
- Configuration experience with TACACS/RADIUS, DNS, DHCP, and other IP services.
- Expertise with EMC SAN (VNX), including SAN switch zoning and server configuration.
- Proficient in EMC NAS (Isilon) and Backup Products (DataDomain, Avamar, RecoverPoint).
- Administration of DNS servers, LDAP (Active Directory), and Windows Server (2012/2016) environments.
- Hands-on experience managing enterprise-scale antivirus solutions (e.g., Sophos).
- Capable of performing L2/L3 configurations on network devices.
