Data Center Operations Process Engineer

Oracle Data Center Operations (DCO) has an opportunity for a Data Center Global Support Engineer who will be responsible for a wide variety of support and escalation across Data Center Operations. If you are ready to drive consistently great customer outcomes and accelerate the growth of our business, come join the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) organization.

You need to be highly motivated, self-driven and have a good combination of technical and support skills, while being focused on continual improvement within the operation. You will combine hands-on technical expertise with a passion for clear documentation and continual improvement—supporting escalations, incident response, and operational health across one or more data centers while strengthening the knowledge base that enables teams to move faster and deliver consistently great customer outcomes. Working with a global, multi-level team, you will lead performance analysis, proactively monitor facility health, and partner across functions and regions to drive process improvements, automation, and risk mitigation. You’ll also play a key role in new region builds and expansions—serving as a primary liaison for expansion work and providing oversight for installations, repairs, inventory, logistics, and infrastructure upgrades to improve stability and efficiency. Periodic travel to OCI locations may be required to support build and operational activities.

Responsibilities

You need to be highly motivated, self-driven, and have a combination of strong analytical, communication, and project skills. You will also:

  • Work with technicians, engineers, program managers, and partner teams to create and update documentation.
  • Partner with SMEs to publish documentation for physical infrastructure, cloud products, security, and compliance.
  • Review and audit documentation with SMEs to ensure clarity, quality, and consistency.
  • Gather feedback and continuously improve documentation.
  • Support operational responsibility for one data center; support additional sites as needed.
  • Lead analysis of key operational metrics (capacity, temperature, availability, cleanliness, etc.) and drive improvements.
  • Monitor facility health (power, cooling, security) and recommend actions to strengthen resilience and safety.
  • Partner across teams/regions to improve processes using industry best practices (Lean; familiarity with Six Sigma a plus).
  • Provide support for complex escalations.
  • Participate in RCAs, document lessons learned, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain an accurate, actionable knowledge base (issues, processes, solutions).
  • Apply ITSM disciplines; ITIL experience preferred.
  • Support new region builds and expansions (remote and onsite) to meet quality and schedule goals.
  • Serve as liaison with project teams and engineering to manage timelines, dependencies, and capacity needs.
  • Partner cross-functionally to uphold safety, readiness, and operational excellence during builds.
  • Oversee installations, repairs, inventory, and logistics.
  • Guide replacements/upgrades and support site improvements through implementation.
  • Plan and execute rack deployments, installs, and physical network changes.
  • Drive preventative maintenance and facility optimization (airflow/pressure, containment, power trains) to improve stability and efficiency.
  • Lead moderately complex workstreams; track timelines and deliverables to meet requirements.
  • Prioritize and delegate across initiatives; adapt plans as scope, resources, or timelines change.
  • Identify and implement process/workflow improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Measure impact, incorporate feedback, and iterate.
  • Support special projects as needed.
