Job Overview

Qualcomm is expanding its AI Data Center and accelerator platforms to deliver scalable, high-performance systems optimized for AI inference and training workloads. We are seeking a Principal Product & Solutions Architect with deep expertise spanning AI hardware platforms, data center system architecture, customer solutions engineering, and product strategy.

In this role, you will operate as a senior technical authority and customer-facing architect, leading system-level design discussions across AI accelerators, rack-scale platforms, and software enablement, while also shaping product direction and platform roadmaps. You will partner closely with engineering, product management, and customer teams to ensure platforms are technically differentiated, deployable at scale, and aligned with real-world AI workloads.

This role requires 15+ years of experience and operates at a Principal level, with broad influence across silicon, systems, software, and customer engagement.

What You’ll Do

• Lead system-level architecture and design for AI data center platforms, spanning AI accelerators, host systems, memory, networking, storage, and rack-scale deployments.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor for strategic customers, driving deep technical discovery, architecture alignment, and solution design across pre-sales and post-sales engagements.
• Serve as a senior technical interface to translate customer and workload requirements into clear architecture and engineering specifications.
• Drive hardware–software co-design, working closely with silicon, platform, and software teams from early architecture through system bring-up, validation, and launch.
• Define reference architectures for AI inference and training infrastructures, including scale-up, scale-out, and rack-scale configurations.
• Analyze system performance across compute, memory, interconnect, and storage; identify bottlenecks and guide optimization strategies.
• Provide architectural guidance on high-density AI deployments, including power, thermal, reliability, and serviceability considerations.
• Partner with product management to influence platform and silicon roadmaps, leveraging customer feedback, performance data, and ecosystem insights.
• Support customer pilots, proofs-of-concept, and escalations involving complex multi-component AI systems.
• Represent Qualcomm in deep technical reviews, executive discussions, and architecture workshops with customers and partners.
• Lead technical enablement activities including solution workshops, internal training, and platform evangelism.
• Author and review architecture documentation, reference designs, performance studies, and application notes.
• Stay current on emerging trends in AI infrastructure, accelerator-based systems, distributed AI, and data center architecture.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 15+ years of experience across:
• AI hardware platforms or accelerators
• Data center / cloud or high-performance computing systems
• Customer solutions engineering or system architecture roles
• Strong system-level understanding of AI accelerators, CPUs, memory hierarchy, and high-speed interconnects.
• Experience designing or enabling rack-scale and cluster-scale AI systems.
• Hands-on expertise with Linux-based systems, low-level software, drivers, and system bring-up.
• Proven background in performance benchmarking, workload analysis, and system optimization.
• Demonstrated ability to bridge engineering depth with customer and product needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex technical topics clearly to technical and executive audiences.
• Willingness to travel for customer engagements and strategic reviews.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience of operating at Senior Staff / Principal / Distinguished technical level.
• Background in customer enablement, solutions architecture, or technical product strategy roles.
• Experience influencing platform or silicon roadmaps through customer-driven insights.
• Knowledge of AI inference-optimized, latency-sensitive, or cost-optimized systems.
• Familiarity with distributed AI, cloud-to-edge architectures, or heterogeneous compute systems.
• Strong cross-functional leadership skills with a record of mentoring senior engineers.
• Ability to combine deep technical credibility with business and ecosystem awareness.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 7+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
