Job Description

The Data Center Senior Engineer - Structural is a critical role responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, design, and sustainability of data center facilities. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced professional who can oversee the development, construction, and enhancement of data centre structures to meet the current and future needs of the organization. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of structural engineering principles, experience in project management, and a proven track record in the design and implementation of complex data centre projects. Strong communication and leadership abilities are essential, as this role will involve collaborating with various stakeholders such as architects, contractors, and IT professionals.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee the construction of data centre structures ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
• Conduct site inspections to verify the proper implementation of structural designs.
• Collaborate closely with architects and construction teams to align structural plans with project goals.
• Manage and review project budgets and timelines, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to structural engineering processes and practices.
• Analyze and assess the structural integrity of existing data centre facilities and recommend improvements.
• Ensure all projects adhere to applicable safety regulations and building codes.
• Work with stakeholders to accurately define project requirements and deliverables.
• Oversee the preparation of reports detailing project progress and structural performance metrics.
• Implement new technological systems to enhance the structural efficiency of data centres.
• Liaise with external contractors and vendors to ensure the quality and delivery of structural materials.
• Coordinate with IT teams to facilitate the integration of structural and technological elements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field required.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in structural engineering within data centres is preferred.
• Proven proficiency in CAD software and other engineering design tools is necessary.
• Experience managing large scale construction projects with a focus on structural integrity.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and environmental impacts on structures.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead cross functional project teams.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is highly desired.
