Data Center Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Center Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computer networking, telecommunications, and data center operations. This role requires hands-on experience with various technologies, including CCTV systems, fiber splicing, and network installations. The Data Center Technician will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our data center infrastructure while ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network equipment including Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and VoIP systems.
• Perform fiber splicing and cabling tasks using Cat5 and Cat6 cables to ensure seamless connectivity.
• Conduct routine inspections and repairs of computer hardware and telecommunications equipment.
• Utilize hand tools and power tools to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the data center environment.
• Collaborate with team members to implement network installations according to schematics and industry standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
• Monitor data center operations to ensure compliance with NEC standards and low voltage regulations.
• Maintain accurate documentation of equipment configurations, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a service technician or in a similar role within a data center environment.
• Strong understanding of computer networking principles, including LAN configurations and Ethernet protocols.
• Familiarity with CCTV systems, telephony solutions, and equipment repair processes.
• Proficiency in using an ohmmeter for electrical measurements and troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to read schematics effectively.
• Previous experience in customer service is highly desirable.
