Data Engineer

Role Highlights:

Position: Foundry Platform Developer / Senior Data Engineer

Location : Washington DC / Alexandria VA – Hybrid strongly preferred (2–3 days onsite)

Job Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire

Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required

Interview Process: 1–2 rounds via video

Remote Option: Will consider remote U.S.-based candidates depending on client/project for similar Foundry developer openings


Role Overview:

  • This role focuses on supporting the setup, maintenance, and development of data pipelines, models, ontologies, and workflows within Palantir Foundry to enable scalable analytics and operational insights.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Foundry pipelines ingesting data from internal and external systems
  • Format, cleanse, and enrich data for downstream analytics and applications
  • Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot platform connections, and optimize asset performance
  • Build and maintain datasets, objects, and ontologies to support analytics and operations
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to refine workflows, templates, and integrations
  • Implement access controls, metadata management, and governance best practices
  • Identify automation and performance improvement opportunities within Foundry
  • Stay current on new Foundry features and development best practices


Top Must-Have Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of direct Palantir Foundry experience (pipeline building, object maintenance, app development)
  • 6+ years overall development experience (e.g., PySpark, Databricks, low-code, data engineering)
  • Strong understanding of low-code modules and Foundry’s application development layer
  • Ability to coach/lead technical teams in a collaborative client-facing environment
  • Federal/DoD experience preferred


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Information Systems, or related field
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ETL frameworks
  • Experience working with AWS, Azure, or GCP and integrating cloud/on-prem data sources
  • Solid knowledge of data modeling, metadata, ontologies, and governance best practices


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in federal or regulated environments
  • Prior hands-on Foundry work (creating pipelines, establishing objects, monitoring asset health)
  • Familiarity with big data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, or Databricks
  • Strong communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
