Description:
Anivas Tech is seeking a Data Engineer to support our government agency IT operations. We are looking for a skilled professional with 7+ years of relevant experience who brings strong technical expertise and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a mission-driven, high-visibility environment.
Requirements:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to support government agency data operations

Develop and optimize data models, schemas, and storage solutions using modern cloud and on-premise platforms

Collaborate with stakeholders and solution architects to define data requirements and translate them into technical designs

Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability by implementing validation, monitoring, and alerting frameworks

Support integration of disparate data sources, APIs, and third-party systems into a unified data ecosystem

Maintain data governance practices including cataloging, lineage tracking, and metadata management

Troubleshoot data pipeline failures and performance issues in production environments

Document technical designs, data flows, and operational runbooks in accordance with project standards

Work within Agile/SAFe delivery teams, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

Apply security best practices to protect sensitive government data in compliance with applicable regulations

US citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; 5 additional years of relevant experience accepted in lieu of degree

7+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, including pipeline development and data architecture

Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting/programming language (Python, Scala, or Java)

Experience with data integration tools and platforms (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, or equivalent)

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native data services

Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and database design

Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Experience working in a government or federal IT environment

Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance requirements (FISMA, FedRAMP)

Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery methodology experience

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data solutions

Knowledge of NoSQL databases and real-time streaming architectures
