Data Engineer II

Andrew Morgan LLC (AM) is a fast-growing Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and HUBZone SB. We are currently seeking a qualified Data Engineer to join our team supporting our DoD Federal Client.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and integrate FM data from multiple sources
• Develop and optimize data architectures that support automation, analytics, and AI/ML use cases
• Apply Python, PySpark, and SQL to process, analyze, and structure large and complex datasets
• Implement and support OCR solutions to extract structured data from unstructured or semi-structured documents
• Enable AI/ML and GenAI use cases, including integration and operationalization of large language models (LLMs)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven automation workflows that improve financial operations
• Support development of data products, dashboards, and reporting solutions for decision-making and audit readiness
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to project team members
• Engage with government stakeholders to gather requirements, present solutions, and communicate technical concepts clearly
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and DoD/DAF standards

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5–8 years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or related technical roles
• Active or Interim Secret clearance
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or PySpark, and advanced proficiency in SQL
• Experience working with large, complex datasets (structured and unstructured)
• Hands-on experience with OCR technologies and implementations
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts, including Generative AI and Agentic AI
• Experience interacting with and leveraging large language models (LLMs) in operational environments
• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and tools, such as Databricks, Palantir, or Microsoft Power Platform
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data modeling skills
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills
• Experience working in federal or DoD environments and understanding of mission-driven delivery

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate
• Familiarity with financial management (FM) data and audit readiness processes
• Experience building or supporting data products in secure or regulated environments
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (e.g., Git)
• Exposure to big data ecosystems (e.g., Spark, Delta Lake, distributed processing frameworks)
• Ability to translate complex technical outputs into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders

SALARY:

Salary is commensurate with both location and experience.
