Data Engineer III (Hybrid)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Act as a mentor for junior members of the team. Assist newer team members in their assigned tasks and help them learn and grow in the Analytics space.

• Provide meaningful input into the direction the team should head.

• Lead large project discussions with stakeholders. Help gather requirements, create Jira tickets, and take initiatives from conception to completion.

• Maintain working knowledge of both Data Engineering and Data Governance processes, roles, and tools and help build collaboration between teams.

• Be a thought leader in the realms of DBT and Snowflake processes, architectures, modelling, and capabilities.

• Assist team members as needed with pull request approvals.

• Assess data model design accuracy, and efficiency, and lead refactoring efforts when necessary.

Required Skills, Education, Experience:

Core competencies:

• 4–8 years of relevant experience.

• Expert knowledge of SQL. Prior work with Snowflake a plus.

• Experience with data modelling techniques and processes from architecture to implementation.

• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to find root cause to errors.

• 3-5 years of experience building data pipelines and prepping data for use in a visualization tool.

• Experience with data profiling, validation and QA

• Experience with programming languages, especially Python, for ETL applications.

• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to discuss requirements with stakeholders.

Secondary competencies:

• Strong written communication skills and the ability to document your work.

• Leadership and mentoring skills that influence others in a positive way, and help them grow their confidence and skill sets.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
