Data Engineer - Senior Architect / AM / Consultant

Roles & Responsibilities

Mair Group is a young, high growth, Strategic investment group focusing on food security, retail and real estate. Founded by the consolidation of historic retail Co-operatives of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Al Dhafra and Delma. Also under the group is Makani, the Real Estate company focusing on development and managing regional and community malls. Listed on ADX in December 2024 but still with majority Emirati family shareholding.

The portfolio presently consists of 120+ retail stores and 12 Shopping centres. We have capital to expand retail and mall portfolio.

Technical Expertise:

• Deep understanding of modern DWH architectures and cloud-native data platforms.
• Ability to design and implement robust, scalable, and secure data solutions on AWS.
• Strong grasp of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and real-time data streaming.
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.

Leadership & Collaboration:

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with product, engineering, and analytics teams.

Soft Skills:

• Passion for innovation and continuous learning in the data space.

For AM and Consultant : Experienced data engineering professional with strong expertise in Data Lake development and optimization, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration. Proficient in Snowflake, SQL, and data modeling, with hands-on experience in performance tuning and project delivery. Skilled in building scalable data pipelines and managing end-to-end data workflows using modern cloud platforms and tools.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in Data Warehousing (DWH), with deep hands-on expertise in architecture, design, and implementation.
• Proven experience in Retail and E-commerce domains, with a strong understanding of business processes and data flows.
• 5+ years of experience working with AWS cloud platforms, including services like S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, and Kinesis.
• Strong development experience with Snowflake, including performance tuning, data modeling, and advanced SQL.
• Hands-on experience in building scalable data pipelines using tools such as Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, and AWS Glue.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark for data transformation and analytics.
• Familiarity with CORTEX or similar data orchestration and governance platforms.

Certifications (Preferred):

• AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty
• Snowflake SnowPro Certification
