Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Job Description
The shipping and receiving clerk position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.
Essential Functions
Individuals must be able to perform the following essential functions:
- Able to self-manage, be organized and task oriented.
- Must be able to work quickly and efficiently.
- Has a basic knowledge of computers and ability to learn very basic data entry to maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Reports overage shortage and damage or questionable conditions to the Quality Control department supervisor.
- Maintains the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position can be both sediment and active and requires standing, walking, movement from workstation to printer/copier.
- This position is responsible for the operations department's receiving and shipping data entry.
- Efficient and accurate accountability of paperwork for inbound and outbound orders/shipments
- Prepare inbound tally sheet/bills/loading tickets & manifest for dock operations
- Reconcile received inbound BOLs against shippers’ initial orders entered
- Compare inbound bills to NCS P-manifest and correct differences to update loading tickets
- Initiate request for Bills of Ladings when missing
- Monitor and respond to Delivery Appointment emails for inbound loads
- Received and respond to email request in timely manner
- Set inbound appointments from calls from carriers and update the NCS system (TM)
- Update freight status using WMS system
- Verify and acknowledge on P-manifest, case counts from dock employees
- Stamp and sign all paperwork necessary for receiving orders
- Create assemble manifests and build "packet" that contains all necessary outbound paperwork
- Distribute outbound paperwork to carrier/driver
- Enter orders from WMS into the Walgreen's SIMS system
- Assist billing/entry for West and Southeast terminal when necessary
