Overview Of The Role:

  • The Data Governance Manager plays a critical role in defining, implementing, and operationalizing data management capabilities across the enterprise. This position is responsible for establishing governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to data standards, and driving continuous improvement in data quality and stewardship. Operating within the Al-Futtaim Global Technology & Digital Platform (GTDP) function, the role requires close collaboration with various internal stakeholders to ensure data is well-managed, protected, and optimized for business value.


What You Will Do:


Strategy and Framework Development

  • Support the execution of the enterprise Data Management Strategy and contribute to its continuous evolution.
  • Develop and enhance Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, and data ownership models.
  • Implement and manage the Data Stewardship model, ensuring clear roles and accountability across Line of Business (LoB) and IT functions.
  • Facilitate Data Governance forums, working groups, and steering committees with the Data Owners across the Line of Business (LoB).

Collaboration and Partnership

  • Collaborate and support IT Business Partner Organization and LoBs to implement Data Quality Management processes.
  • Partner with Data Engineering & Operations to embed data quality controls into data pipelines and platforms.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure MDM solutions align with business requirements and governance standards.
  • Partner with IT Business Partners to align data governance priorities with program and project pipelines.
  • Coordinate with the Data Privacy & Protection Office and Information Security Compliance to ensure alignment with regulatory and security controls.

Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure that architecture decisions align with data governance requirements.
  • Maintain and operationalize the data catalog, business glossary, data dictionary, and metadata management practices.
  • Oversee day-to-day governance processes including Data Classification tagging, change management, compliance checks, and governance reporting.
  • Monitor adherence to data policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a governance advocate and change agent across the organization.

  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional governance processes.


What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Management, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related data roles within IT.
  • Strong knowledge of data management domains including Data Strategy, Data Governance & Stewardship, Data Quality, Master Data Management (MDM), Metadata Management, and Data Modeling & Architecture.
  • Experience working with Data Governance & Data Cataloguing tools (e.g., Oval Edge, Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Talend, IBM Infosphere, or similar).
  • Experience working with Data Quality Platforms (e.g. SAP, Informatica, Ataccama, Syniti or similar).
